2018 Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament

This year’s tournament is a 3-day event, starting Friday, November 23th 2018 and culminating in a late Sunday afternoon Final on November 25th 2018.

About the Tournament

  • Where: Sarasota International Cricket Club, Sarasota, Florida
  • When: Friday through Sunday, November 23 to 25, 2018 the U.S Thanksgiving weekend.
  • What: Six-a-Side Cricket, 6 teams in two divisions of five play round robins on Friday and Saturday. All teams in Sunday play-offs to decide festival and cup, plate, bowl and medal winners.

Playing Teams 

AUSSA

The team is comprised of a group of players from Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Some of the players have played at national levels and after moving to Florida, have continued to enjoy the cricketing traditions and have played in friendly ex-pat matches pitting country against country. Captain: Brian Alford. 

Esher Cricket Club

Founded in 1863, Esher CC on the southwest border of London, fields four adult teams and has a thriving, nationally recognized youth program. The 1st XI plays in the prestigious and highly competitive Surrey Championship 1st Division. The club’s goal is to widen the appeal of cricket by attracting and inspiring existing and potential cricketers of all ages. Saracens Cricket Club

Saracens Cricket Club, founded in 1929, is one of the traditional pillars of English cricket, a touring cricket club with no fixed home ground of its own. Saracens play a full summer schedule of Sunday friendlies in North London, Hertfordshire and Essex. The club’s original players hailed from Enfield on the northern edge of London, but more recently the membership has come to include a number of Australians, New Zealanders and South Africans. The club has toured widely in recent years. They first came to the Sarasota Sixes in 2014 and SICC is delighted to have them back. Captain: Ben Wallis.

Sarasota Dolphins

SarasotaInternational Cricket Club was founded in 1982. Its mission is to promote amateur cricket domestically and internationally. The Club welcomes members of all levels of cricketing ability, from all walks of life and many different countries. For them, cricket is more than a game. Meeting people, making friends and renewing old friendships is as important as what happens on the field. SICC plays a year-round schedule of 40 or more home games, hosting teams from around Florida, and elsewhere in the US and Canada. The club tours frequently. It has played in Canada, the UK, Scotland, South Africa, Trinidad, Guyana, the Bahamas, St Vincent, Mexico, as well as San Francisco, Houston, Atlanta and Philadelphia. The Sarasota Thanksgiving Sixes have been played annually since 1993, drawing teams from the US, Canada, the UK, Bermuda, the
Cayman Islands, Mexico, Australia, the Netherlands and Israel.

Titans

Based in West Palm Beach, Titans Cricket Club,  presently plays in the
South Florida Premier League 40 and 20-over competitions. The club was formed in 2007 with the mission of attracting players of all ages and ability, with an emphasis on developing and providing opportunities for young players. Titans CC visits SICC once or twice a year for 35-over matches in between its league commitments. The club has also been a regular competitor in the Sarasota Sixes. SICC welcomes old friends at Titans CC. Captain: Atul Thomas.

The Village Greenies

The Village Greenies CC was formed in 1974 and presently has teams competing in both the first and second divisions of the Cayman  Islands Cricket Association competition. The Greenies’ name is taken from the nickname for a bottle of Heineken beer. The club has a strong international flavor, with players from the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, the UK, South Africa, New Zealand, Barbados, and St Kitts which has enabled it to compete with distinction over a long period of time. The Village Greenies have been regular participants in the Sarasota Sixes almost since the beginning and they are among its past winners. SICC warmly welcomes them back. Captain: Dave McGrath.
